For Carlos, football is everything. An ardent fan of the game, he spent his free time playing soccer with friends. A cabin crew with Emirates, he never missed a chance to play a game of soccer.

But when he felt a strain in his thigh muscles, little did he think that he had torn his ligament. “It was painful. I thought my muscles just got pulled,” says Carlos.

He came to visit Dr. Erik Hohmann a few days later as his pain was not subsiding. His leg had swollen as well.

Upon investigations, the doctor found that Carlos had a complete rupture of his ligament. The injury was close to the femur.

Carlos had to undergo ACL repair surgery where the doctor would reconstruct his ligament with a hamstring or patella tendon graft. Dr. Erik performed a primary repair surgery that worked well.

Carlos recovered in just eight weeks and returned to duty. It takes around 12-16 weeks for a person to recover after the surgery. Six months post the surgery, an MRI scan showed that his wound had healed.

A completely fit and healthy Carlos, now moves around the football court with the same agility and speed as before.
